Islamabad:
After daring Taliban attacks in the last few days, especially on its security establishment, Pakistan has launched a massive crackdown to catch those the culprits.
And the operation is now spreading to capital Islamabad where Pakistan Police raided the safe house of banned outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir on Saturday.
Margallah police, on a tip-off, raided House No 8, Street No 9 in Sector F-8/3 and discovered over 30 workers of the banned organisation conducting a secret meeting. Six activists managed to escape.
Meanwhile, nearly 100 terror suspects, including foreigners, were arrested onSunday in a series of raids carried out by security forces inIslamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and other parts of Pakistan, a day afterits Army launched a major offensive against Taliban in Waziristan.
Securityagencies arrested three members of the Amjad Farooqi faction of theTehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and seized a huge cache of weapons,ammunition and fake National Identity Cards during a raid near AzadiChowk Yadgar in Lahore.
The Amjad Farooqi group has claimedresponsibility for several recent terror attacks, including a brazenassault on the Army's General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
