Lima: At least 10 people were killed and more than 30 wounded when a packed minibus overturned on a road in southeastern Peru, local authorities said.
A hospital official in the neighbouring city of Chicha said at least nine children were among those wounded in the accident on Friday in a rural area of the Andean region of Huancavelica.
The driver voluntarily caused the accident after an unspecified mechanical accident, according to local radio.
Road accidents in the Amazon and Andean regions of Peru are common due to winding and often difficult travel routes and poor vehicle maintenance.
Peru's roads are among the most dangerous in Latin America, with 2,900 people killed in 2010 and 2,583 others last year, according to official data.
