Indianapolis:
Hundreds have attended a memorial service at Butler University to remember an Indiana aid worker killed by Islamic State militants in Syria last week.
Speakers during the 80-minute service recalled Peter Kassig as a good man, son, student and volunteer who dedicated himself to helping others. In captivity, he changed his first name to Abdul-Rahman.
Islamic Society of North America executive director Hazem Bata told those at the service they weren't there because of how Kassig died, but because of how he lived. He said Kassig lived a life of selflessness.
Speakers at Sunday's service praised his humanitarian work and urged others to use his life as inspiration.
