PM, Obama discussed Headley case

Washington: US National Security Adviser James Jones said President Barack Obama has shown personal interest in the Headley-Rana case and the matter was discussed during his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday.

He said Obama has given instructions to US authorities to share the information with India regarding Headley-Rana case, despite the limitation posed by the country's legal system.

"At the President's direction, we have been very forthcoming with our Indian counterparts on sharing whatever information we have which might be of some assistance to India," Jones said.

Headley, a 49-year-old Pakistan-born US citizen, was arrested in Chicago last month by the FBI, which said he was part of an LeT plan to carry out terror attacks in Delhi's National Defence College, Dehradun's Doon School and Woodstock in Mussoorie.

Tahawwur Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani-origin, is currently in FBI custody on charges of plotting terrorist attacks in India on behest of Lashkar-e-Toiba. (With PTI inputs)
