Rio De Janeiro:
Jimmy, a chimpanzee with a unique talent, sets to work on his latest masterpiece at Niteroi zoo near Rio de Janeiro. Delicately blending the vivid colours and careful to cover all the canvas, Jimmy's face is a picture of concentration.
And when he's bored of painting canvases there's always his keeper's arm to work on.
Many abstract originals are a part of Jimmy's portfolio. Art instructor Roched Seba who visits the zoo three times a week is nurturing Jimmy's talent.
This artistic ape only recently discovered the joy of painting after his trainer bought him a brush and canvas to enrich his lonely life.
Jimmy's bold use of colour and delicate brush strokes are impressive, especially at closer inspection.
Niteroi, one of Brazil's humblest zoos, could do with a celebrity to pull in the crowds. Most of the animals here were donated or found abandoned.
Its lions were left at the entrance by a bankrupt circus owner and its exotic birds were rescued from illegal traffickers.
An exhibition of 20 of Jimmy's best paintings will be held next January at the zoo and the authorities are hopeful the paintings might raise some cash for the zoo.
But collectors looking to invest in a Jimmy original will have to be patient. The zoo hopes to host a few exhibitions before they go on general sale.
