Tripoli:
Is this a new dawn for Libya? Days after Gaddafi's death, a group of young Libyans have launched the country's first news, talk and music radio show, broadcast in English.
"The Free Talk Show" airs on radio station Libya Alhura FM on 93.4 across the country's major cities, hosted by broadcasting duo Rio and Aya. It started off playing songs about rebellion and revolution in English and Arabic, and now plays more mainstream music as well.
The radio show first broadcast at the beginning of October, shortly after the fall of Tripoli to revolutionary forces. It is on air for one hour every day except Friday, but the production team say they are hoping to expand to a primetime evening slot as well.
The idea for the show came about after friends Abdelrauf Ghwela and Radi Dhan decided there should be an outlet for English-speaking Libyans to air their views and listen to music. Ghwela says the show is a "space for the people in our Libyan community to talk freely."The hosts set a new topic and take calls from members of the public who want to debate issues.
The team also produces news bulletins in English, handling not only Libyan domestic news but regional and world headlines as well. Their newscast is given equal billing with the Arab language bulletin on Libya Alhura FM.
