Lima:
A powerful magnitude 6.0 earthquake shook southern Peru today, US seismologists said.
The US Geological Survey said the temblor had a depth of 99.7 kilometres.
Monitors in Peru, meanwhile, said there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake, which struck at 1603 GMT some 117 kilometres west-northwest of the city of Arequipa.
