Johannesburg:
Princess Diana's biographer Andrew Morton and his wife have been badly hurt in a car crash near Kruger National Park, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
"On Friday evening we were notified of a head on collision involving two cars," said Joseph Mabuza, the spokesman for the Mpumalanga community safety department.
"The British couple were identified as Andrew Morton and his female companion. Both of them sustained injuries and were transferred to hospital."
Hospital officials identified her as his wife, Carolyn Morton.
Morton is thought to have suffered broken ribs, while his wife Carolyn suffered a broken breast bone when their car collided with another vehicle over the weekend, local news agency SAPA reported.
Two people in the other car, a woman and a child, were killed in the crash.
Carolyn Morton has already been discharged from a Nelspruit hospital.
Morton rose to fame through his controversial biography of the late princess, "Diana: Her True Story" as well as books on Monica Lewinsky, Tom Cruise and David and Victoria Beckham.
