Protesters Attack Office of Pakistani TV Channel Geo News

Islamabad: Anti-government demonstrators today attacked the office of Pakistan's leading TV channel Geo News in Islamabad with stones, damaging the building.

As protesters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek) were marching towards the Prime Minister's residence, a crowd of angry demonstrators gathered outside the office of Geo News and attacked it with stones in the wee hours of Sunday.


The staff struggled to find a safe passage and managed to escape from the scene, Geo News reported. Some stick-wielding protestors also attacked the satellite van of the news channel. The staff, however, managed to escape after they were surrounded by angry protesters.

On Saturday night, supporters of opposition leader Imran Khan and cleric Tahir-ul-Qadri sought to storm Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's residence in Islamabad by breaking through the police barricade, in which three people were killed and nearly 500 injured.
