Roadside bomb kills 16 Afghan civilians

Kabul: Afghan officials say 16 civilians have been killed by a roadside bomb in western Afghanistan.

District police official Mohammad Salim says the bomb struck a station wagon packed with people traveling in Shindand district of Herat province on Tuesday.

He says 11 children, four women and one man were killed. He says another four people were wounded.

Salim says all of the passengers were relatives. Provincial spokesman Muhiuddin Noori confirmed the figures.
