Los Angeles, California: Santa Claus, an American who does not like giving presents and hearing from children, is running for a City Council seat in the US state of Alaska, according to a media report.
Mr Claus, who unsuccessfully campaigned to be elected the US president in 2012, is "the only man legally named Santa Claus ever to live in North Pole, Alaska," he claims on his Facebook page.
Mr Claus had to withdraw his candidacy for the US President due to lack of support, according to his campaign site.
Mr Claus is not quite like the cheery, gift-giving figure of Christmas as he has posted not to look for gift on his Facebook page which reads, "Please do not send me requests for presents," newsminer.com news site reported.
He is also not keen to hear from kids. "I do not respond to messages, calls, emails, or letters from children," reads a note on his website.
A former North Pole Chamber of Commerce president, he is one of two candidates who have launched write-in campaigns for City Council, North Pole Clerk's office said.
The city council election is scheduled to take place on October 6. The North Pole City Council has two seats up for election this year, but no one filed for office during the regular filing period. Candidates run as a group for the at-large seats, with the top vote-getters declared the winners.
