Alexander Haig, a former US Secretary of State and senior aide to President Nixon during the Watergate Scandal, died on Saturday at the age of 85.
Haig's long and decorated military career launched his Washington career, for which he is better known, as he served Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations.
Haig ran unsuccessfully for President in 1988, when Bush won the Republican nomination.
