Karachi:
Pakistani intelligence agencies claim to have arrested seven suspected Al Qaeda men for last week's attack on the Mehran naval base in Karachi.
Five of the seven men held are said to be of foreign origin. Arms have been recovered from their possession, and their vehicle has also been seized.
The authorities are now questioning the suspects.
The Pakistani Taliban had claimed responsibility for the attack on PNS Mehran, saying it was a revenge for the killing of Osama bin Laden. Ten security personnel were killed and two maritime surveillance aircraft were destroyed during the attack.
Four of the attackers were killed or blew themselves up while two more reportedly escaped during the siege which lasted for over 15 hours.
