Baghdad: The ISIS group has claimed responsibility for an attack in eastern Baghdad today that killed at least 12 people.
The terror group said in an online statement that four of its members carried out the attack and claimed that as many as 90 people were killed or wounded.
In the brazen attack in embattled Baghdad, gunmen blew up a car bomb, sprayed gunfire in a crowded area and took hostages in a shopping mall.
A hospital official confirmed the death toll and said at least 36 people were also wounded during the attack in the Baghdad al-Jadida neighbourhood.
A large plume of black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky above the area where the mall is located.
