Beijing:
A Shanghai Airlines passenger plane today slid off an icy taxiway before take-off due to improper operation by the crew at an airport in northwest China.
The nose wheel of flight FM9220 skidded on the taxiway as the aircraft was making a turn at the Urumqi Diwopu International Airport in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
All people onboard were safe, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted an official with China Eastern Airlines that owns Shanghai Airlines as saying.
An improper operation by the crew caused the incident, the official said.
Following the incident, Shanghai Airlines removed the company's flight division manager from his post and urged company employees to strengthen safety awareness.
The company's deputy general manager in charge of safety was also ordered to make a deep self-examination due to the incident, the report said.
