Colombo:
Sri Lanka is getting ready for Tuesday's presidential election, the first since the defeat of the Tamil Tiger rebels.
Saturday was the last day of campaigning between the two main architects of last year's war against Tiger rebels - the incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the main opposition candidate, former army chief General Sarath Fonseka.
Both candidates made public appearances on Sunday: Fonseka was welcomed at the Colombo's Kalaniya Temple where he prayed with Buddhist monks along with former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Election-related violence has marred the campaign for weeks; five people have been killed and 78 wounded since December.
