Taipei:
A 67-year-old man on Monday crashed his car through the gate of a Taipei primary school as students were arriving, injuring himself and four students, local media reported.
A surveillance video showed Wu Chuan Ming driving his car through the gate of Puchien Primary School.
The car appeared to knock down four children and at least one student got trapped underneath the vehicle, ETTV reported.
When teachers and parents tried to stop the driver, he allegedly ignited a petrol container, inflicting burns on his face and hands, ETTV said.
According to ETTV, four students, aged six to 12, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Wu was later sent to a hospital, unconscious and suffering from burns.
Police did not comment on the motive of the attack.
No further information was immediately available.
