Stockholm: Sweden's Princess Madeleine, the youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf, gave birth today to her second child, a son, the palace announced.

The boy, whose name has not been disclosed, was born today at 1:45 pm (1145 GMT) in Stockholm.

"Both mother and child are in good health," the palace said in a statement.

Madeleine, fourth in line to the throne, married British-American businessman Christopher O'Neill in 2013.

The couple are already parents to daughter Leonore, born in February 2014 in New York where the couple were living at the time.

The newborn is the third grandchild for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel have a three-year-old daughter, Princess Estelle.

Madeleine, 33, was seen on Saturday attending the wedding of her elder brother, Prince Carl Philip, to former Swedish glamour model and reality starlet Sofia Hellqvist.

Madeleine and her family are expected to move to London in a few months.
