Sydney: The Opera House in Sydney cancelled on Monday night's performances in the light of the situation in the central business district here, where over 30 people are being held hostage by a gunman at a cafe.
"In light of the situation, we have decided to cancel tonight's performances at the Opera House. This is to minimise pressure on transport networks and to provide as much notice as possible to staff and patrons," Sydney Morning Herald reported citing an Opera House statement.
The gunman took over 30 people hostage at busy Lindt Chocolat Cafe located not far from the Indian consulate in this Australian city.
