Taliban 'court' publicly executes tribesman in Pakistan

Peshawar: A tribesman accused of killing two brothers was on Tuesday publicly executed on the orders of a Taliban "court" in the volatile North Waziristan region in northwest Pakistan.

A large gathering watched the execution of Waheed Dawar, in Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan Agency that borders Afghanistan.

Dawar was brought blindfolded and handcuffed to the spot where he was executed.

Dawar was shot dead by relatives of Noor Zeb and Khan Zeb, the brothers whom he was accused of killing.

The Taliban "arrested" Dawar a month ago and his trial was conducted by a "court" under Islamic laws, sources said.

Dawar's body was handed over to the relatives for burial. The Taliban have summarily executed dozens of people in the restive tribal belt on various charges, including spying for the US forces in Afghanistan.
