Taliban releases video of captured Swiss couple

A video emerged on Tuesday of what is believed to be a Swiss couple, abducted by the Pakistani Taliban in Baluchistan in July this year.

In the video, the man holds up a newspaper which is dated September 15, 2011, while armed and masked men can be seen with guns trained on the couple.

AP Television is not able to independently verify the authenticity of the footage.

In the video, the couple appear to be appealing for their release.

The face of one of the militants is pixellated in the video by the militants who released the footage.

It is believed, the group holding them are calling for the release of Aafia Siddiqui, a US-educated neuroscience specialist and mother of three who is serving 86 years in an American jail for trying to shoot US security officials in Afghanistan.
