Taliban target UN guest house in Kabul; 8 killed
Kabul: The gunbattle between the Taliban and Afghan police at the UN guesthouse in Kabul has just ended. Firemen are now dousing the fire.

Taliban fighters targeted the guesthouse on Wednesday morning, killing eight people.

The UN has confirmed that at least 5 possibly 6 UN staff are among the killed.

Two Indian consultants at the guesthouse are safe. They have been relocated and are not wounded. Indian mission is in contact with them.

According to the Afghan Interior ministry, three suicide bombers have also been killed.

Sources tell NDTV an adjacent house also used by international personnel could also have been targeted.

In another attack soon after, a huge blast took place near hotel Serena. All guests have been taken to the basement. They are safe now.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for both the attacks. They have also warned against voting
on the 7th next month for the presidential runoff.

On Tuesday, 8 US servicemen were killed in roadside bombings.
