As the news of Hosni Mubarak quitting as Egypt's President spread, there were cheers among the tens of thousands of protesters who have been demanding his ouster and had been protesting for 17 days.
The news was also welcomed by Mohammed ElBaradei, the man who led the opposition against Mubarak said. "This is the greatest day of my life. The country has been liberated," he said.
After days of massive protests and violence, Mubarak has finally stepped down as President of Egypt on Friday.
Vice President Omar Suleiman announced that Mubarak resigned as president and handed control to the military.
Car horns were heard around Cairo in celebration after Vice President Omar Suleiman made the announcement on national TV on Friday.
