Washington:
US President Barack Obama has sent two of his senior most officials to Pakistan to follow-up the investigations of the failed Times Square car bomb.
A White House official said the US national security advisor General James Jones and CIA Director Leon Panetta have left for Islamabad.
The US describes the visit as 'time to redouble efforts with allies in Pakistan to close the safe haven for terrorists'.
Meanwhile, Faisal Shahzad, the key suspect in the New York car bomb plot, made his first public appearance on Tuesday evening since his arrest two weeks ago.
Shahzad did not enter a plea to the charges. Earlier, he had voluntarily waived his rights to an initial court appearance.
