Google's latest doodle is a salute to mothers across the globe.
New Delhi:
"God couldn't be everywhere, so he made mothers," a famous Jewish proverb which aptly describes the beauty of motherhood.
Motherhood is one of God's greatest presents to mankind, and today to mark the social occasion of Mother's Day Google has come up with a heart touching doodle. The doodle puts on show two pairs of footwear, one of a mother and the other of a child, representing the relationship between a mother, or a mother like figure, with her child.
Celebrations of motherhood can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held festivals in honor of the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele.
The concept of modern Mother's Day began in the early 20th century. It was fabricated by Anna Jarvis in 1908 in US. Across the globe the date and the way Mother's day is celebrated varies, but usually it falls on the second Sunday in May and involves presenting mothers with flowers, cards and gifts.
