Pics: Plane In Flames At Tokyo Airport After Colliding With Another Aircraft

Five crewmembers were killed after a Coast Guard plane collided with a Japan Airlines airplane on the runway of Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

A Japan Airlines plane was seen in flames after it collided with another aircraft at a Tokyo airport

A Japan Airlines airplane was on Tuesday seen in flames on the runway of Tokyo's Haneda Airport after a collision with a Coast Guard aircraft. 

Five crewmembers were found dead on the Coast Guard plane, while all 379 people on board the Airbus were safely evacuated.

The Airbus had arrived from Japan's Shin-Chitose Airport on the northern island of Hokkaido. 

According to reports, the Coast Guard plane was scheduled to leave to help with rescue efforts following a massive earthquake in Japan on Monday.

Rescue workers trying to douse the fire after a Japan Airlines airplane caught fire

The footage showed orange flames coming out of windows and the airplane's nose on the ground as rescue workers sprayed it.

The images also showed the aircraft moving briskly along the runway at Haneda Airport, one of the world's busiest, before an explosion burst from beneath and behind it.
