A powerful 7.5 earthquake hit central Japan on Monday, the USGS said, prompting tsunami warnings and authorities to urge people in the area to move to higher ground." All residents must evacuate immediately to higher ground," national broadcaster NHK said after the quake hit the Noto region in Ishikawa prefecture around 4:10 pm (0710 GMT).
The Indian Embassy in Japan has set up an emergency control room for anyone to contact in connection with the Earthquake and Tsunami. The India office in Japan has issued emergency numbers and email IDs to seek assistance.

Far-Eastern Russia On 'Alert' Over Tsunami Risk
Russia's Sakhalin island and the Pacific city of Vladivostok were on "alert" Monday to a possible tsunami risk after a major earthquake in Japan.
The alerts came after the powerful 7.5 earthquake in Japan prompted tsunami warnings, with Japanese authorities urging people to move to higher ground.
Sakhalin is an elongated island north of Japan and Vladivostok is Russia's main Pacific city.
Authorities in Sakhalin said the island's west coast could be affected by tsunami waves, but stressed they would not cause a major threat to life on the island and did not order evacuations.
Emergency services called on people to "remain calm".

South Korea's Eastern Province Tells Residents To Evacuate After Quake
South Korea's Gangwon province warned residents to take precautions and evacuate to higher grounds after a massive earthquake hit north central Japan on Monday and triggered tsunami warnings, according the safety ministry.
South Korea's meteorological agency earlier said sea levels in some parts of the Gangwon province on the east coast may rise after an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 hit north central Japan and issued an advisory for caution.
It said tsunami waves of up to 0.3 metres could reach South Korea's eastern shore between 0929 GMT and 1017 GMT.
Gangwon province told residents in emergency text messages to stay away from the coast and evacuate to higher ground. The city of Samcheok advised residents to move to areas higher than a three-storey building, the Ministry of Interior and Safety said.
