Two blasts ripped through mosques in Pakistani cities of Lahore and Nowshera within minutes off each other in which a senior cleric of the Jamia Naeemia mosque in Lahore and several others are feared killed.
A police official said a blast occurred inside offices of the Jamia Naeemia seminary in Lahore soon after the Friday prayers, and that at least two people were killed and six wounded.
Television channels reported that senior cleric of the Jamia Naeemia mosque Sarfraz Naeemi was feared killed in the blast. It was not clear whether it was a suicide attack.
In Nowshera, a city in the volatile northwestern region, a bomb exploded at a mosque near an army base soon after Friday prayers, wounding 32 people, said police chief Abdullah Khan.
He said some of the victims might have died on the way to hospital.
A policeman was killed and about a dozen others injured in a suicide attack in Peshawar on Thursday night, barely two days after the suicide bombing of a five-star hotel in the northwestern Pakistani city.
