Peshawar: Two persons were killed today when unidentified gunmen fired at NATO containers en route to Afghanistan in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region.
The incident occurred in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency. Two were killed in the attack, police said.
The local officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the entire area.
Security forces launched a search operation, they said. The NATO supply route in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province was recently re-opened after the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ended its sit-in following the Peshawar High Court order which termed the blockade as illegal.
The supply blockade was initiated in November in protest against US drone campaign in Pakistan.
