United Nations: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said today North Korea's missile launch was "deeply troubling" and called on Pyongyang to "halt these inflammatory and escalatory actions."

North Korea fired at least one ballistic missile which flew about 800 km (500 miles) before hitting the sea off its east coast, South Korea's military said today, as the isolated state stepped up its defiance of tough new UN and US sanctions.

The UN Security Council is due to meet on the missile launch on Friday, diplomats said.
