United Nations honors 103 peacekeepers killed on duty in 2012
United Nations: The United Nations is honoring UN peacekeepers who lost their lives in the line of duty around the world last year - the fifth year in a row that more than 100 lost their lives in the line of duty.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon led a wreath-laying ceremony Wednesday at UN headquarters.

UN peacekeeping chief Edmund Mulet says the world body lost 103 peacekeepers last year in Congo, Darfur and Abyei in Sudan, Ivory Coast and other countries.

Nearly 3,000 peacekeepers have fallen in the line of duty since the first peacekeepers deployed 65 years ago.
