United Nations May Add Sanctions on North Korea

United Nations: A U.N. diplomat says the Security Council committee monitoring sanctions on North Korea may impose further ones.

The committee imposed sanctions July 28 on the North Korean shipping company that operates a ship seized by Panama in July 2013 for carrying undeclared military equipment from Cuba. The committee ordered all countries to freeze the assets of Ocean Maritime Management Company, Ltd.

Britain's deputy U.N. ambassador Peter Wilson, whose country holds the council presidency, spoke with reporters after chairing Tuesday's closed council meeting that heard a report from the sanctions committee.

"In terms of other designations ... the committee has put forward other information, and we are again to take action on that in due course," Wilson said. He did not give details.
