Lord Paul noted that the University has widened its international work with institutions in Myanmar, Kuwait, Nigeria and Singapore.

Lord Paul said he was particularly proud of the partnerships that the University is building in India to create opportunity and help build the Indian economy.

"These are exciting times to be associated with the University of Wolverhampton, and I feel very privileged to be given the honour of continuing to serve as your Chancellor for the next five years," said Lord Paul, who is also the Chancellor of the University of Westminster.

Lord Paul thanked the Chair of Governors Mick Elliot and Vice-Chancellor Geoff Layer for their dedicated service.

"The University continues to make great progress under the leadership of our Vice-Chancellor Geoff Layer and we are all proud of what has been achieved by him and his marvelous support staff to make this University truly international and inclusive," Lord Paul said.

Earlier speaking at the Graduation Ceremony of the University, LordPaul told the gathering "Our Graduates are the world's leaders of tomorrow and you must shape and change your world.

"With that comes great power, and great responsibility. But I look to you to use your education, the skills and knowledge that you have developed and will hopefully continue to build on through your lives to make a difference."

"We have an aim, and a duty, to ensure that our graduates leave us as truly global citizens. We are proud to have an international network of partners and students of over 150 nationalities. We deliver our courses in eleven countries and we have developed successful overseas regional bases including our branch campus in Mauritius.

"In a challenging jobs market, having the skills and attributes to impress employers is essential. But of no less importance is experience, and we are committed to creating significant opportunities for placements, internships and entrepreneurship. A key part of our role as the University of Opportunity is to grow graduate employment."

He pointed out that with a record employment rate of 94 per cent, nearly all of the University's graduates are in employment within six months of graduating.

"Over recent years we have invested heavily in providing a modern and vibrant environment in which  ur students can thrive. We have spent over 100 million pounds across our campuses over the last few years to ensure our students have access to state of the art facilities," he said.
