Cape Canaveral (Florida): The US Air Force has launched a satellite to be part of the existing navigation system for the military. It includes an improved military signal that is more resistant to signal jamming in hostile environments.

The latest Global Positioning System satellite rocketed into space on Thursday from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, which is separate from the US space agency's center on the Florida coast.

The satellite was up by an unmanned Delta IV rocket.

The Air Force manages the navigation system to ensure there are at least 24 operational satellites at all times.
