US-China relationship is most important and complex: US

Washington: Relationship between the US and China is one of the most important and complex
relationships in the world today, a top Obama Administration official has said.

"In terms of the US relationship with China, it's arguably the most important and could be the most complex bilateral relationship in the world today," said P J Crowley Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs.

"It (US-China relationship) was much broader, much deeper, much more stable than it had been at any point in the last 20 or 30 years," Crowley told reporters in response to a question on reports that China was apparently not on the same page with the US and other countries on the issue of Iran.

The Obama administration official said US regularly discuss with China on a host of issues like the role that they play within the Security Council, on climate change, on the global economic situation, on regional security.

"This underscores the breadth of the relationship, the importance of the relationship. We would continue to engage China on all of these issues, as we have repeatedly over the past year," he said.

The official said that the international community was united in its concern about the risk that Iran poses to the region and more broadly. "We think that we're in a very strong position to take decisive action."
