New Delhi:
The US embassy will organise a "student visa day" on June 19, in Delhi, where over a thousand Indian students aspiring to study in America will be interviewed.
"We plan to interview more than 1,000 visa applicants as student visas are required for Indian students to enter the US. Our doors will open exclusively to students applying for F, J, and M visas," said a statement from the embassy.
Since October 2013, a record number of students have applied for a US visa and issuances have increased by 40 per cent as compared to the same period in 2013, the embassy said.
"Nearly 100,000 Indian students are currently studying in the United States, enriching our classrooms and campuses, and building relationships that will last a lifetime," the statement said.
Speaking about the student visa day, the embassy said that applicants will be treated to a festive, collegiate atmosphere along with refreshments, while the students will also be provided tips and information on academics and campus life in the US.
Prospective applicants can schedule an appointment online at www.ustraveldocs.com/in.
