US man gets 125-year term for molesting children

Covington: A 32-year-old man who prosecutors say videotaped himself and his girlfriend molesting children as young as two months was sentenced today to 125 years in prison.

Stephen Quick II was convicted in March of three counts of child molesting. He received the same sentence that his girlfriend, 26-year-old Samantha Light, was given in December.

Light, who pleaded guilty to child molesting charges, said at her sentencing that Quick coerced her into having sex with the children and that even though she appeared happy in the videos, she had felt like she "was dying inside."

Yesterday, Quick told Fountain Circuit Judge Susan Orr Henderson that he was sorry for what he did but that he plans to appeal his convictions and sentence. He gave "yes" or "no" answers to all of the judge's questions, and made no other public statements.

"There's just so much evidence against him. For him to appeal is just stupid. It's ridiculous," the mother of one of the victims said after the hearing.

Another victim's mother called the couple "the most disgusting pair I could think of."

Quick and Light were arrested in March 2009 after a 3-year-old girl told her mother that her baby sitter touched her genitals and that the couple took photographs.

During a search of the couple's home, investigators found a videotape with footage taken over five months of the couple engaging in sexual acts with a 2-month-old girl, a toddler boy, a 6-year-old boy and the 3-year-old girl, according to a probable cause affidavit. Light baby-sat some of the children.

Police have said they don't believe there were other victims.
