US plane bomber was properly checked: Nigeria
Abuja: In a bid to prove that officials at Lagos airport did their job thoroughly, Nigeria has offered to
provide the US with images of suspected US plane bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab going through security checks on December 24.

The images would prove that the security staff at the country's Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos had done their job thoroughly, Nigeria's Justice Minister Michael Aondoaaka said.

According to Aondoaaka, the alleged bomber was in transit at Lagos and was properly screened like others.

"He also removed his shoes, joined the queue on the right but later changed his mind and moved to the left," the country's top law officer said.

Demanding Nigeria to be removed from a US terror watchlist of 14 countries, including Iran, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, Aondoaaka said we are not a terrorist country.

"The issue of Nigeria being listed as a nation with terrorist interest will be resolved. Nigeria runs a very transparent mechanism," the minister said.

Notably, Abdulmutallab was arrested after trying to set off a bomb hidden in his underwear on a US Northwest Airlines flight as it approached Detroit on Christmas Day.
