Republicans on Wednesday killed a $118 billion immigration and foreign aid package that had linked US funding for Ukraine and Israel with stringent domestic border security measures.
Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Democratic-led Senate, said he would quickly force a second vote to approve the foreign aid without the immigration curbs.
