Islamabad:
The US will provide five helicopters and 103.5 million dollars in aid to Pakistan's law enforcement and border security agencies to enhance their capabilities, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said.
Clinton announced the aid package during her meeting on Wednesday with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
She said five Huey-II helicopters will be delivered to the Pakistani interior ministry's air wing and new funding will be provided for operations and maintenance of the fleet.
The US has so far provided 14 Huey-II helicopters and three Cessna Caravan aircraft to the interior ministry's air wing.
The US has invested over 140 million dollars in this aviation programme since its inception in 2002, said a statement from the American embassy.
Besides pledging 103.5 million dollars in support for the Pakistan government's priority law enforcement and border security programmes, Clinton offered new assistance to the North West Frontier Province police and other law enforcement organisations, including the Levies (troops) in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
The US contribution will support police training in leadership and human rights, the provision of commodities and infrastructure support aimed at improving the capacity, mobility and survivability of Pakistan's police forces.
