Islamabad:
The Pakistan government claims that Baitullah Mehsud is the man behind the assassination of the former Pakistani prime minister Benezir Bhutto in December 2007.
The Taliban militant leader now has a $five million reward on his head and is said to have grown in strength and stature since the 9/11 attacks.
He is the chief of Tehrik-e-taliban, the main Taliban umbrella group in Pakistan and commands 20,000 pro-Taliban troops .
Mehsud belongs to lawless South Waziristan, which is regarded as a safe haven for Al-Qaida and the Taliban.
