With a Dash of Dance, Google Doodle Celebrates FIFA World Cup
Google is celebrating one of the most awaited events of the year - the FIFA World Cup - with a colourful Doodle on the search engine's homepage.

The mega event kicks off today evening in Brazil, arguably the world's most football-crazed country, with a match between the host nation and Croatia.

Google tipped its hat to one of the biggest - and at a reported cost of $11.5 billion, most expensive - sporting events in the world with, what else, a football.

The letters also do a little jig to mark Brazil's legendary love for the Samba.

The football frenzy has been tainted with reports about grossly escalated costs, delayed construction of stadiums and general mismanagement.

Brazil will take on Croatia at Sao Paulo's Itaquerao stadium which, some reports claim, is not even fully finished yet.

This will mark the host nation's quest for its sixth world title.
