London:
The world famous circus theatre company Cirque Du Soleil has a new address. One as famous as the theatre group itself. The Royal Albert Hall in London will host the latest show 'Totem' starting 7th January.
Cirque Du Soleil rarely conducts a show in the confines of a building, but the Royal Albert Hall certainly calls for an exception.
"We've been having an affair, I guess, with the hall for a few years now, and it's probably one of the few buildings on the planet that is with a totally different dimension, but has a similar feeling as we have in our big top," said Sylvie Galarneau, senior Artistic Director.
Cirque is known for its synthesis of circus styles from around the world into a central theme and storyline. The group has toured 270 cities around the world and witnessed by about 90 million people in its two and half decades of existence. It has won many awards and even boasts of a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
Totem's theme is the evolution of mankind from its primordial, amphibian state to the aspiration of flight. It takes inspiration from many of mankind's founding myths. The show would run in London until 17 February 2011.
